In general I get a lot of enjoyment / personal satisfactions around helping others succeed. It tinges a lot of my interactions in my personal life, work, other groups I’m involved with and the SCA. For the curious this is my persona backstory in the SCA.
Is the second son to a minor nobleman serving under Frederick I (the Fair).
Matthias’ ancestral lands are located in and around the town of Lutz on the Mur river in Austria.
Matthias was wounded and taken captive with 1000 nobles, including Frederick, in the Battle of Mühldorf against Louis IV.
Held for three years in the Trausnitz Castle in the Upper Palatinate, with Frederick, he went with his liege on the quest to convince
Frederick’s brother Leopold to submit to Louis IV as King of the Romans. If Frederick did not succeed, he vowed to become a captive again of Louis IV.
When the quest failed, Matthias returned with Frederick to Munich to be taken captive again, even though the Pope had released Frederick from his oath.
Impressed by Frederick’s noble gesture, Louis renewed his old friendship with Frederick and agreed to rule the Holy Roman Empire jointly.
Matthias was rewarded for his loyal service, and has spent the following years traveling in Europe and the lands beyond.
In the summer of AS LI, with much acclaim and gratitude from his family and friends, he was elevated to the Order of Chivalry at the Great Northeastern War, and took the title of Sir.
